What are the rules, should we be putting any website where we get information on here whenever we post it. As a teacher I have been cutting and pasting for 8 years. I try to give credit whenever I can... any thoughts???
There are definitely a lot of grey areas in terms of using copyrighted material from the internet, what is and what isn't... I do think we have to model good use of information for our students, but I am also confused about what is okay to do/ use and what isn't.
I found a reference to this page somewhere but haven't checked it out yet, it's supposed to help you find material that is free of copyrights... The organization also helps you establish copyrights of your material to the degree you want. Check it out at:
http://search.creativecommons.org
(the videos about how Creative Commons works seem like they'd be a good starting point).
We will do a bit more with copryright later. - specifically "creative commons" and the search link that Marta provided. It is a great way to search for interesting images!
Even though I spent a number of years as a reporter, I really can't tell you about copyright on the web. I'm like you ... I give credit where I can.
